BERLIN TATTOO CONVENTION 2011

Always so much fun at the Berlin Convention... just like last year, I travelled with one of my closest friends and a fellow artist working here in Oslo at Lucky 7 Tattoo; Nick Morte.

Like last year, since we just simply LOVE Berlin, it was more a vacation than an actual working trip. hehe...

Me in east of Berlin

Nick in east of Berlin

We were only there for 4 days, but was able to do more sightseeing then actually planned! First day we went straight to my favorite store; HARDWAX to by some vinyls that my dear neighbour at home orderes. I was able to buy some nice music and other goods myself. After that, dinner with one of my good friends FAT from Spain; and straight to The Pub with some tequilas.

Outside HARDWAX.

Coolest door in the world

HARDWAX

The next day was the first day of convention. Me and Nick was sharing booth like always. Loads of fun and so many people to talk with....
One of the coolest things with conventions is that you always meet people you know from other travels. Old friends  and new friends.

I did a poppy on this really cute girl; and some other small stuff. Nick was allready booked in,  and did a nice halfsleeve!

All in all; one of the best conventions in a while; and I am coming back next year for sure!!!
Next year is gonna be busy. &é different countries; stay tuned! The tour is on!!!!

LIGHT A CANDLE

I'ts 03:18 in the morning. I can't sleep. This is a weekend I, and the rest of the world will never forget. Too much that has to sink in... My mind is still spinning, and my eyes are sore because of crying and no sleep.

Oslo, one of the safest cities in the world experienced a mayhem that effected all of us.
I was at work when the bomb went off. I heard something that sounded like thunder, but it was too short. The shop is pretty far away from the building, but it was still load.
I had no idea what was going on. Ten minutes later one of my best friends Caroline calls me. She is in the middle of everything and describes a load sound, fire alarms and a cloud over the city with raining glass. I got scared. Kaia, my co worker also got a phone call, and we rushed to check the news; It was horrible. A bomb went of in one of the government buildings right in the center of the city. Everybody thought that terror had reached Norway.
It was total chaos. People running, screaming, ambulanses everywhere.
I was supposed to meet my dad, so I had to go down to my apartment.

I still had no idea what was going on, but it was a weird tension in the air, and it scared me. People were panicing and people were arguing. I saw a foreign boy, probably around 13-14 years old getting beated up outside the bus stop beeing called bad things and a terrorist. What was going on?
I went inside and turned on the news waiting for my dad. They of course started to talk about terror. Some people ment that they had to blame Al Qaeda. Some people didn't think they would do it like that... I checked my facebook and saw a lot of really bad status updates on who to blame. I just thought "please, shut up until we know" It pissed me off...

I got some friends over. We were all supposed to go out that day, but we were not allowed to get near the center. We sat at my place watching the news and talked.

Then the real horror came. Shootings at Utøya, a Norwegian man dressed in a police uniform shot young people at a youth camp. A massacre that I have no words to even explain. I shivered... It really got into me, and when I found out I knew some of them... I got really upset.
They caught the man who did it, and I was ashamed of all my Norwegian friends blaming the wrong people. I was sad and really pissed off.
We decided to go downtown since they opened the streets again and have a couple of beers at our favorite bar, Devilles. I didn't wanna sit at home waiting for a message. I was calm.

The whole city was a ghost town. Glass everywhere, policemen with machine guns. But the silent, was somthing I have never experienced.
The tension was weird. A few people in the bar. But in one way, it was good to meet up and
talk about what happened. This is a Rock bar, but this night, all different kinds of people were sitting together. Nobody cared.

So, I wish. That the people of Norway, no matter what religion or skin color or background will understand that we are all together in this. Don't judge before you know. This is a tragedy that we will never forget. It touched so many all over the world. I hope we keep together in these times, that we care, that we stop hating and that we help out each other.
I lost one friend, one is injured and one is missing. I can't even imagine how many people who lost their family members, kids and close friends in this evil act.
The world is not fair. I can't even describe it in words....

For real fear and real hate there is no words.
The heart is an organ of fire.

UPDATE FROM THE STUDIO

Been some hectic days lately. Been tattooing a lot, and is finally starting to get booked up for a while!! So, I will probably stay in Oslo without traveling for a while. There is nothing more I love than just drown myself in tattooing. It's what I love, and lately, the only thing that keeps me from going crazy at these crazy Oslo times.

Latest news is, we are redoing the whole studio at Art & Soul. I am moving away from down in the basement, and will have a new nice working place next to Quentin upstairs. Bigger shop, gonna be a blast!!!

Been starting a lot of cool projects lately, This one is a backpiece in making. Mostly gonna be freehand, but I managed to at least finish the birds. More pictures will come after next session... Stay tuned!!!!

Another cool project I started on last week is on one of the nicest girls I've met. She wanted two almost full sleeves with maori tribals. No symbols, no meanings, but only decorative patterns. Not what I really do, but I was really stoked when I started to draw it up. Putting together a lot of details, and just the picture in my head of this girl with two sleeves kicked my brain into this:
First session, bad ass!

Doing three cool projects tomorrow! Stoked! So now I gotta go to bed...
My vacation starts on Tuesday. Doctors order I guess. Will go home to my parents on the west coast. Draw, hang out with my grandma, surf and just basically relax.

Will try to update my blog when I am there;)

Other than that, my lists are starting to fill up pretty fast, so If you want an appointment during the fall you should be fast!

TATTOOING THEBON FROM KEEP OF KALESSIN

I was lucky enough to do the first tattoo on one of my favorite singers from Norway; Thebon from Keep of Kalessin. A band I've been fan for so long, and is very glad to getting to know them. Always a lot of fun and good times.
As most Kalessin fans know, they are obsessed with dragons! I mean... obsessed.
So we made a cool tattoo on his arm, ripped off skin and dragon skin underneath!

Thnx for the good time, and I will se you around on tour!
Hopefully not to long until I will see them live again;)

Here is the result after about 5 hours:

Check out one of their videos!

A BLOODSWORD AND A COLDER SUN

Just wanted to share.. one of the most beautiful texts in the world....
by Mayhem; A bloodsword and a colder sun... Have been inspiring me since I was young... simply magic...

Enter now my palace of sacrificial guilt
On the axis of the killing fields of Judas
Into the void of juxtapositioned emptiness
My kingdoms are for the few
As in beauty are for the few
I know the future the past has evaporated
Exhibit the beast of pale complexion
The war of a millennia has passed away
Colder is the sun that fades in the distant
Brighter the bloodsword running red
Inside your mind there is a battleship

SICK OF THE SICKNESS

Been some hectic weeks! Went straight over to Haugesund after Bergen convention to hang out with my family and do a little work at Karma Tattoo.

Been sick, tired and a little bit burned out lately. Simply too much to do and to little time.
I love traveling around.. but hopefully I will stay in Oslo for a while now. Need some rest....Or maybe a little holiday? hehe...

Did some cool projects over in Haugesund...
Did more on the Fetus Skull sleeve on Malene.. probably a little session left to get the last details and some more on the inner arm... Really fun to do this one!! Can´t wait to see it all done and take a nice, proper picture of it. This summer maybe...

Came back to Oslo early Saturday morning, me and my little suitcase. haha...
Got picked up at the airport, got some breakfast, then straight to the studio to do The Pirate Saturday!!!

"My life in a box"

Did a cool freehand old school swallow on Brede.  Not often I do freehand old school, but it was a lot of fun!! Since my arm is really fucked up from working too much lately, I only did 2 tattoos this Saturday. But I´m loading my batteries for the next one to work my ass off;)

So many cool projects to start on these days!
Jørgen from my hometown was in town recently, and we were able to do more on his back...
Freehand huuuge skull!!! Lot´s of details and background to take place, so lot to do still...

Will try to get better at blogging.. I know I´ve been slow lately. Sick and destroyed basically...Other than that, just have to post this picture of a gift from Dagfinn at Karma! Bring the Good old Black Metal days back and keep it OLD SCHOOL!
